Ammonia is one of the many forms of Nitrogen existing in environment. While other Nitrogen forms (other than Ammonia) can affect aquatic life indirectly Ammonia is directly toxic to aquatic life. Ammonia enters the aquatic surrounding through municipal effluent discharge thru nitrogen waste from mammals or also thru natural means like nitrogen fixation or agriculture runoff water. High levels of Ammonia lead to a toxic buildup in internal tissue and blood in marine species leading to potential death. pH and temperature can affect the Ammonia toxicity to aquatic life. Our AQUASOL Ammonia test kits are available for Salt water.

Both the above kits are based on color comparison. They consist of a reagent NH1 bottle and a comparator tube along with a color comparator. They are extremely easy to use and can be used by anybody at any place.

Nitrite

Nitrites are salts of nitrous acid which occur naturally or artificially in ground water. They are released in water from Fertilizer runoff water sewage and mineral deposits.High levels of Nitrite are toxic to mammals and other lower forms like marine species. They disturb the oxygen delivering ability ofhemoglobin in the bloodstream. Also large blooms of Algae can grow due to high Nitrite level leading to hypoxia. Hypoxia dead zones created are deadly to almost all marine species. Therefore regularly monitoring of Nitrite levels is very essential and needs to be done judiciously in both marine and fresh water. This is based on color comparison and the colors on the comparator are clearly discernable making the kit very easy to use. This kit is available for Salt water.

pH Fresh water

pH is the measure of the hydrogen ion concentration in water. It denotes if the water is acidic (7). When pH is 7 it is said to be neutral. Natural water range between pH 5.0 and pH 10.0 while sea water is near pH 8.3. Monitoring of pH becomes an important exercise for the growth and well being of fresh water species this is especially true for a closed water body viz. breeding pond pans or aquariums. Fresh water species thrive over a large pH range viz.6.0 9.5.The growth retards below 6.0 and below 4.0 most species are killed.

Our freshwater pH test kit is very minimalist easy to use. The range is from 6.0 7.6 and 7.4 9.0.

Nitrate

Nitrates are found in nature and many of our food material. Generally the level of Nitrates is quite low in ground water. In aquatic environments Nitrates may seep in thru fertilizer runoff from cultivated lands municipal industrial and also private sewage disposal systems and waste water refuse dumps and decaying plant debris. High Nitrate levels in Drinking water pose a great health risk to Infants causing Methemoglobinemia Blue Baby Syndrome The presence of Nitrates in the Aquatic environment does not pose such a problem as Ammonia or Nitrites. Nitrate concentrations of 50 ppm or so are quite safe for fish. But if the levels reach 80 ppm then the problem begins as this high concentration can be toxic. Another problem with Nitrates is that Algal blooms happen and these are highly detrimental to the aquatic species. Bacterial and Fungai infections prevail in these conditions and cause the Fish to lose immunity along with their capacity to reproduce thus retarding growth.

AQUASOL Nitrate test kit ranges from 0 to 160 ppm. This is based on color comparison and the colors on the comparator are clearly discernable. This is available for Salt water.

Boilers are systems which generate steam which consists of two principal parts: the furnace which provides heat usually by burning a fuel and the Boiler proper a device in which the heat changes water into steam. The steam or hot fluid is then recirculated out of the boiler for use in various processes for heating applications.

Proper pre-treatment of Boiler feed water is an important part of operating and maintaining a boiler system. As steam is produced dissolved solids become concentrated and form deposits inside the boiler. This leads to poor heat transfer and reduces the efficiency of the boiler. Dissolved gasses such as oxygen and carbon dioxide will react with the metals in the boiler system and lead to boiler corrosion. In order to protect the boiler from these contaminants they should be eliminated or at least through external or internal treatment.

“Water is one of the most important component in construction and is required for the preparation of mortar, mixing of cement concrete and for curing work etc. The quality of water used has a direct impact on the strength of the mortar and cement concrete in the construction work. Impurities in water can cause metal corrosion, introduce unwanted silt and clay into the concrete, adversely affect the hardening process of concrete and also reduce the strength by even 25%. Thus the need to ensure the quality of water used during construction is vital.

Water is required to be cooled for many processes for example air conditioners manufacturing processes or power generation etc. A cooling tower is used to reduce the temperature of a water stream by extracting heat from water and emitting it to the atmosphere. Cooling towers make use of evaporation whereby some of the water is evaporated into a moving air stream and subsequently discharged into the atmosphere. As a result the remainder of the water is cooled down significantly. Water by its basic nature is corrosive. Therefore cooling systems are plagued with corrosion.

Many factors affect corrosion rates in a given cooling water system. The presence of dissolved gases chloride and sulfate levels pH alkalinity scaling tendency and protective ions such as calcium magnesium phosphate nitrate and silicate must all be taken into consideration. The first step to control is detection therefore regular monitoring of the above is absolutely essential.

Water is the major ingredient in a water soluble metalworking fluid mix. It may amount to as much as 90-99% of the mix as used. Therefore its importance in product performance can not be ignored. Corrosion residue scum rancidity foam excess concentrate usage or almost any metalworking fluid performance problem can be caused by the quality of the water used in making the mix. Untreated water always contains impurities. Some impurities affect drastically by reacting or combining with metalworking fluid ingredients. These impurities can change performance characteristics. Therefore water treatment is necessary to obtain the full benefits of water soluble metalworking fluids.

Soil testing is the analysis of a soil sample to determine nutrient and contaminated content composition and other major nutrient characteristics. A soil test can determine fertility or the expected growth potential of the soil which indicates nutrient deficiencies potential toxicities from excessive fertility and inhibitions from the presence of non-essential trace minerals.

Soil testing is often performed targeting groups of compounds and minerals which need to be in adequate quantities for the soil to be productive and subsequently give a healthy crop. The advantages of testing are that excessive use of fertilizer can be avoided which results in reduction of Waste of plant & potential damage to environment can be controlled. Therefore it makes good sense to test the soil for these nutrients and add the required amount of fertilizer.

Soil has to contain some major nutrient for the crops to be healthy. The major nutrients which need to be in adequate quantities for the soil to be productive and subsequently give a healthy crop are:

NITROGEN

Nitrogen encourages above ground vegetative growth & it serves as the source for the dark green color in the leaves of various crops.

PHOSPHOROUS

Phosphorus is a component of the complex nucleic acid structure of plants which regulates protein synthesis. It is therefore important in cell division and development of new tissue in roots.

POTASSIUM

Potassium takes care of multiple functions like Photosynthesis Protein Synthesis and Starch formation and for the translocation of Sugars. It also imparts resistance to the plant against Microbial attack and if deficient results in poor flowering and fruit formation.

pH

pH is important because it influences how easily plants can take up nutrients from the soil. Also is useful in prevention of soil borne disease.

ORGANIC CARBON

Carbon content of soil is a major factor in its overall health. Soil carbon improves the physical properties of soil and water-holding capacity of sandy soil. Also it contributes to the structural stability of clay soils by helping to bind particles into aggregates of which carbon is a major part holds a great proportion of nutrients that are of importance to plant growth. It prevents nutrient leaching and is integral to the organic acids that make minerals available to plants.

The first thought that comes to mind when we think of safety in swimming pools is drowning slipping and falling etc.

But do we really know that the most probable hazard is contamination by germs viz. bacteria. Therefore the likelihood of us falling prey to these sicknesses is much more than that of drowning etc. Bacteria spread through people who have diarrhoea and as the pool is shared by many swimmers it can be very easily be contaminated. Even best maintained swimming pools can spread illnesses due to these microscopic predators the bacteria. Therefore to ensure a disease free swimming experience regular disinfection of the water is essential.

Generally Chlorine is the disinfectant of choice and a residual has to be maintained to ensure complete disinfection as well as residual protection. Now for Chlorine to be effective the pH (Hydrogen Ion Concentration) of the water should preferably be between pH 6.5 to 7.5. Water below pH 6 or above pH 8 could be uncomfortable for skin.

Now to be doubly sure that the chlorine dose is effective monitoring of harmful bacteria content is essential. However detection of these unseen predators is always a tedious and time consuming task in a laboratory by the conventional methods of microbiology. Now our AQUASOL Swimming Pool Test Kit helps in testing pH Chorine & Bacteria by anyone anywhere in a matter of a few minutes. Our ready to use kits helps to monitor the levels of Chlorine & pH on daily basis as well as has tests for harmful disease causing bacteria.
